Colleges : Campus scene : ORANGE : Chapman Orchestra Plans Eclectic Season

Bach, Mozart, hymns, symphonies and even tunes from the movie “Raiders of the Lost Ark” are among compositions to be performed by the Chapman University Chamber Orchestra in its 1995-96 season, which opens Nov. 12.

At the first concert, the orchestra will perform works by Schubert, Mozart, Copland, Wagner, Cowell and Britten under the direction of Conductor John Koshak.

On Dec. 4, the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra will open its season with cello soloist Sharon Kim in an afternoon concert.

Koshak also leads the youth orchestra, which is in residence at Chapman. The 95-member ensemble will perform works by Bach, Saint-Saens, Moncayo, Menken and Williams.

The university orchestra will tour Europe in January, returning to Orange for a concert Feb. 10. Its final concerts of the season will be March 9 and May 18.
