OXNARD : Bandit Claiming to Have Gun Robs Bank

Share

A California Federal Savings Bank in Oxnard was robbed Wednesday afternoon by a man who told a teller he had a gun.

The man did not display a weapon, and left the Saviers Road bank branch with an undisclosed amount of cash. It was the county’s 36th bank robbery this year.

FBI officials say they are still trying to determine whether the man is the same bandit who robbed a Bank of America branch in Port Hueneme on Tuesday.

“The methods are different, but the description is similar,” FBI supervisor Gary Auer said.

The robber in Wednesday’s incident is described as a Latino, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 160 pounds, with a medium build and short, black, combed-back hair. He was wearing dark sunglasses, a long-sleeved white shirt and tan pants, investigators said.

Unlike the robber at the Bank of America, the robber in Oxnard did not issue a written demand for money.
