PREP ROUNDUP : Villa Park’s DeVera Wins League Tennis Title

Top-seeded Faye DeVera of Villa Park won all three of her matches in the round-robin final to win the Century League singles title Thursday.
DeVera edged teammate KateyBecker, 6-4, 6-3, in the first-place match. Canyon’s Kim Westerman finished third.
El Modena’s Amy Medlin and Holli Freudenberg won the doubles title, going 3-0 in the final. In the Empire League finals:
Oldridge sweeps--El Dorado’s Amanda Oldridge advanced to the finals in singles and doubles. She defeated teammate Yetee Osunsanmi in singles, 6-2, 6-1, and teamed with Michelle Weiss to advance in doubles with a 6-3, 6-2 semifinal victory.
In the Pacific Coast League semifinals:
Bray and Weiss advance--Michelle Bray and Lindsay Weiss of Laguna Beach advanced to today’s singles semifinals. Bray won her quarterfinal match, 6-0, 6-1, and Weiss, 6-0, 6-0.
In South Coast League quarterfinals:
Spica of Dana Hills advances--Sophomore Lara Spica of Dana Hills swept Capistrano Valley’s Kristen Schmitt, 6-0, 6-0 and teammate Summer Tantee beat Lisa Panique of Mater Dei, 7-5, 6-1.
Also advancing in singles play were Sara Luckey of Mater Dei and Ashley Taylor of Capistrano Valley.
In Freeway League water polo:
Buena Park 11, Troy 8--Buena Park clinched a playoff berth by defeating Troy in a five-team playoff. Buena Park (8-19, 2-3) plays Fullerton at 1 p.m. today at Buena Park High in a one-game playoff for second place.
Fullerton 15, Sunny Hills 5--Jason Switzer, with six goals, and Jeff Comstok, with five, helped Fullerton to a Division II playoff berth. La Habra clinched the league title Wednesday.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Estancia 11, Laguna Beach 7--Estancia clinched second place in league; Laguna Beach finished third.
In the South Coast League:
Capistrano Valley 19, Dana Hills 7--Jake French scored seven goals for Capistrano Valley (14-12, 4-1), which finished second in league.
