Not All Share That View of Teachers

* As members of the Parent Advisory Committee, we would like to express our disgust and embarrassment over the statements and conclusions presented at the Oxnard school board meeting (“Commitment of Teachers is Questioned,” Oct. 27).
These are not the unanimous views of the committee. All 30 committee members have never been present at any meeting. We don’t believe these inflammatory statements made about the Oxnard teachers are true. As parent volunteers, we see how committed our teachers are on a daily basis. This business about leaving school at 2:15 p.m. is ridiculous. Teachers often do not leave until 4 p.m.
This committee was formed to enhance communications between teachers and parents, not to create friction. We suggest that the committee refrain from criticizing others and focus on what parents can do to assist the schools.
