Titans Win on St. Clair’s Three-Pointer

Junior guard Chris St. Clair hit a three-point basket with nine seconds left to give Cal State Fullerton a 94-93 victory over High Five America in an exhibition basketball game Monday night in Titan Gym.

“It’s a good start, but that’s really all it is,” Fullerton Coach Bob Hawking said. “We’ve only had 19 practices, and it’s going to take a whole lot longer for us to get where we want to be with so many guys who haven’t played a lot of Division I basketball.”

The team’s three most experienced players led the way. Chuck Overton, the lone senior, had a game-high 28 points; St. Clair had 18 and Chris Dade 17. Ali Nayab had 12 and freshman Kenroy Jarrett 10 in sharing time at the point guard position.

“We play these games to find out about ourselves, and I liked a lot of things,” Hawking said. “We competed hard. They had plenty of opportunities to blow the game open, and we didn’t let them do that.”
