MISSION VIEJO — Mike Jones rushed for three touchdowns and 250 yards in 32 carries as Laguna Hills crushed Costa Mesa, 41-0, in a Pacific Coast League game Thursday night at Mission Viejo High School.
With the victory, the Hawks (9-1, 5-0) finish undefeated in league.
After a scoreless first quarter, quarterback Cory Pardoe opened scoring for Laguna Hills with an 11-yard touchdown run. Jones later scored the first of his touchdowns on a two-yard run, giving the Hawks a 14-0 lead.
A 47-yard touchdown pass from Pardoe to Jay Johnson extended Laguna Hills’ lead to 21 points at halftime.
Jones scored both of the Hawks’ third-quarter touchdowns on a pair of 13-yard runs. The first came with 8:24 left in the quarter and the second came at 2:48.
Laguna Hills’ last touchdown came on a five-yard run by Jerry Hart in the fourth quarter.
Laguna Hills finished with 391 total yards.
The Mustangs (4-6, 1-4) were unable to generate any offense against Laguna Hills. Costa Mesa running back Ray Ohrel rushed for 57 yards in 20 carries and quarterback Chris Mokede completed one pass for eight yards.
