MOORPARK : Man Hospitalized After Car Hits Pole

A Simi Valley man remained in critical condition Friday at St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo after his car struck a high-voltage power pole Thursday night, hospital officials said.

Michael A. Baratta, 31, was northbound on Hitch Boulevard toward Los Angeles Avenue just outside Moorpark when he lost control of his car, crossed lanes and hit the pole, police said. Baratta had to be extracted from his car and suffered injuries to his head, chest and pelvis, police said. Hitch Boulevard was closed for one hour. There were no other injuries, police said.
