Los Angeles police were searching Monday for three men who fled the scene of a brawl outside a Canoga Park bar that left one man critically injured.

William Barnsky, 32, of Canoga Park, was playing pool Saturday evening inside the Gotham City bar in the 21000 block of Sherman Way when he and a friend got into an argument with three other men, LAPD Detective Rick Swanston said.

The argument moved outdoors where Barnsky allegedly struck one of the men on the side of the head with a pool cue, which shattered into 86 pieces, Swanston said. The unidentified man picked up a piece of wood and hit Barnsky in the head, and a second man hit Barnsky’s friend, Ira Tidwell, 44, with another piece of wood.

The three men fled the scene, Swanston said. Barnsky remained hospitalized Monday with a fractured skull. Tidwell was treated and released.

Swanston said his detectives are investigating the case as an assault with a deadly weapon.
