Sheriff’s deputies arrested an Oakland man early Friday after he allegedly kidnaped a woman as she was leaving a steakhouse and drove off in her car, authorities said.

The 21-year-old woman managed to escape unharmed.

The victim had just stepped into her car in a garage near a Black Angus restaurant in the 28100 block of Cabot Road about 1:30 a.m. when a man approached her, asking if she had change for a dollar, said Lt. Keith Brown of the Sheriff’s Department.

“He opened the driver’s door, grabbed her by the neck and pushed her into the front passenger seat,” Brown said. “Then, he threatened to shoot her.”

As the man drove through the parking garage, the victim jumped out of the car and fled, Brown said. She alerted sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Acuna, who happened to be driving by the restaurant.

Acuna checked inside the parking garage but did not locate the suspect. The deputy then went back to the victim, and as the pair stood talking, they saw the car speed out of the garage, Brown said.

The deputy chased the car and arrested Antaun Ramon, 27. He was being held at the Orange County Jail on suspicion of carjacking and kidnaping, Brown said.

The victim did not recall seeing a gun during the attack and no gun was found, Brown said.
