Even though the fog didn’t blanket Huyck Stadium until the third quarter of Lompoc’s 31-14 Southern Section Division VII playoff victory over Rancho Alamitos on Friday night, the Braves’ offense had been in a fog the entire first half.

The Braves (10-1), who averaged 21.4 first-half points during the regular season, led only, 10-7, at halftime. The Vaqueros’ second-quarter touchdown marked the first time Lompoc trailed in a game since September. Lompoc advances to play Sunny Hills.

The Braves’ first two possessions ended inside the Rancho Alamitos 20-yard line. But Ray Hirzel kicked a 32-yard field goal late in the first half.
