Don’t Let Officials Land New Airport
* The Joint Powers Authority (JPA) is desperately trying to establish a commercial airport at Point Mugu with your money. The JPA chairman is Ventura County Supervisor Frank Schillo from Thousand Oaks. One would wish that Supervisor Schillo would tend to the problems of Thousand Oaks rather than create problems for Camarillo.
It would seem that citizens living in Camarillo would and should be alarmed, as should all of those who treasure our lovely county. We all know what happens to a community when a commercial airport is allowed in. We all know about LAX, Burbank and Orange County. Once a commercial airport is in a community, it is there to stay. Be quiet and a few years from now your children will be asking why you let this happen.
The next JPA meeting will be at 5 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Camarillo Airport, 555 Airport Way. If you want to stop this terrible thing from happening to Camarillo and Ventura County, your voices need to be heard now.
