OXNARD : School Workers Get Search-Rescue Lesson

Share

Twenty Oxnard school district employees will don hard hats, goggles and other gear today for a search-and-rescue seminar taught by the Oxnard Fire Department.

It will be the first of a series of classes covering such issues as searching buildings for trapped victims, triage for treating the injured, and use of basic rescue tools to clear debris and free victims.

The goal of the program is to increase school officials’ ability to handle disasters and emergencies on their own rather than rely on an overburdened fire department in a post-earthquake situation.
