ROUNDUP : Penberthy’s Free Throws Lift Master’s

Mike Penberthy was fouled on a three-point shot attempt with three seconds remaining, then sank all three free throws to give The Master’s a 66-65 exhibition victory over the Australian Institute of Sports at Master’s on Wednesday night.

Penberthy was six of six from the line and led the Mustangs with 17 points and six assists.

James Mosely added 15 points and seven rebounds for Master’s, which shot only 33% from the field.

The Australians hit 24 of 57 field-goal attempts (42%) and missed a desperation shot from just inside the half-court line at the buzzer.

The Mustangs converted 23 of 30 free-throw tries (76%).

Leo Gorauskas, Matt Kordick and Reggie Robinson each scored seven points for the Mustangs.

Philip Doherty led the Australians with 20 points.

Northland Pioneer (Ariz.) 95, Glendale 80--Tim Johnson scored 16 points, Ryan Sylva had 15 and Carl Biel added 11 for the Vaqueros (0-3) in a nonconference game at Glendale.

Northland Pioneer is 8-0.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Colorado State d. CS Northridge, 15-8, 15-10, 15-9--Amy Gillis had nine kills and nine digs for the Matadors (2-29) in a nonconference match at Northridge.

Lisa Bussard also had nine kills and added five digs and four blocks.

Heather Hofmans contributed 32 assists, nine digs and six kills for the Matadors, who were held to a .149 hitting percentage.
