A fire at a Westlake-area auto repair shop destroyed eight vehicles, damaged a building and injured a firefighter before it was extinguished Friday afternoon, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.
A firefighter suffered second-degree burns on his right wrist and shoulder but was in good condition at Good Samaritan Hospital, city fire spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
It took 70 firefighters about 25 minutes to put out the blaze in the single-story building at 820 S. Hoover St., Humphrey said. Damage was estimated at $200,000.
The blaze briefly threatened an adjacent three-story, 40-unit apartment building, Humphrey said.
