Oxnard police Tuesday asked for the public’s help in identifying the individuals who stole a car, broke into a junior high school campus and knocked over 13 trees with the stolen vehicle.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

Authorities said the incident occurred the evening of Nov. 7 or early morning of Nov. 8 when a white, 1994 Chevrolet Suburban with California license plate SKICDE3 was stolen near the Vineyard apartments in the 500 block of West Vineyard Avenue.

Police said the car was driven to the 500 block of North Anita Avenue, where property from the car was dumped into the bed of a parked pickup. They said the car was then driven to R. J. Frank School at 701 N. Juanita St., where the north gate to the campus was rammed with the car.

The car was driven across the campus, where it knocked over 13 trees and damaged the grass field, police said, adding that the vehicle, its windows smashed, tires slashed and interior set afire, was abandoned on campus.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ventura County Crime Stoppers at 385-TALK (8255). All callers remain anonymous and are given a number for identification.
