South Bay : EMPLOYER’S REWARD

Share

Efforts to find the killer of a 63-year-old man outside a Redondo Beach grocery store intensified this week as the victim’s employer offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the capture and conviction of the gunman.

The donation from Torrance-based AlliedSignal aerospace company puts the total reward for the killer of Edward Emery at $15,000. Emery’s family and friends had put up $5,000, and an additional $5,000 was offered by Smith’s Food King, the Inglewood Avenue grocery store where Emery, a Carson resident, was gunned down Nov. 11 as he wheeled a shopping cart full of groceries through the parking lot. Police believe that the shooting may have come after a botched robbery attempt.

“Our employees were devastated by the brutality and senselessness of Ted’s death,” AlliedSignal Vice President Jeff From said. “We join with his family in wanting to see his murderer apprehended and brought to justice quickly.”

Emery worked at AlliedSignal for 21 years.
