Coach: John Phillips (ninth year).

1994-95: 13-1, 5-0 in the Sea View League; won its fifth league title, taking second in Southern Section Division II individuals and sending three wrestlers to the State finals.

Key returners: Warren Brown, Jr., 112; Ryan Dickey, Jr., heavyweight; Peter Hamilton, Sr., 119; Owen Hemsath, So., 103; Andrew Pena, Jr., 125; Alan Rush, Sr., 140; Gabe Sanches, Sr., 171; Tim Testerman, Jr., 145.

Key newcomers: Zak Stevens, Jr., 145; Bryce Turi, Jr., 165.

Outlook: With the loss of Justin Meier and Jeremy Brown to graduation, the Vaqueros will not be as strong as last season’s team, but Phillips believes they can win their sixth league title. Pena, who won a Division II championship at 119 and is currently ranked third in the county at 125, will join seniors Hamilton (119) and Rush (140) to give the Vaqueros a strong base in the lower and middle weights. Phillips said the team is pretty solid at the end, with Sanchez (189) and heavyweight Dickey. The Vaqueros are also expecting good things from juniors Testerman and Stevens.
