HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Crescenta Valley Shoots Into Record Book

The Crescenta Valley High girls’ basketball team set a school single-game scoring record Thursday with a 94-54 victory over Royal in pool play of the Crescenta Valley tournament.

Michelle Greco scored 17 points, and Amirah Leonard and Sara Strother each scored 16 for the Falcons, who broke the old record of 88 points, set against Holy Family in 1992.

Greco had nine steals and Leonard had nine assists for Crescenta Valley (2-0).

Bishop Amat 69, Canyon 32--Christine Kaiser had seven points for the Cowboys (1-2) in pool play of the Crescenta Valley tournament.

Riana Webb scored 20 points for Bishop Amat.

Glendale 42, Littlerock 41--Narineh Hartoonian scored 23 points for the Dynamiters in pool play in the Crescenta Valley tournament.

Kelly Phillips scored 20 points for Littlerock.

Simi Valley 77, South Pasadena 36--Tawnee Cooper had 27 points and Jamie Griffin added 14 points, six assists and seven steals for host Simi Valley (2-0) in a Simi Valley tournament pool-play game.

Cammy Piersol scored 15 points for South Pasadena (0-2).

Bell-Jeff 102, Bethel Christian 10--Jackie Johnson had a triple-double for the Guards (1-0) with 18 points, 18 rebounds and 12 assists in a Paraclete tournament first-round game.

Stacy Cobb had 14 points and 10 rebounds, Cheryl Flores added 25 points and 10 steals, and Felicia Flores scored 21.

Antelope Valley 47, Valencia 22--Tina Corley scored 24 points for the Antelopes in the first round of the Paraclete tournament.

Lauria Rossiter scored eight points for Valencia (0-2), which was outscored, 16-2, in the second quarter.

Taft 57, Eagle Rock 42--Mona Calhoun and Vanessa Dunn led Taft (3-0) in the championship of the Eagle Rock tournament. Both Calhoun and Dunn were named to the all-tournament team, and Dunn was also named MVP.

After an evenly matched first two quarters that saw both teams tied at the half, Taft began to capitalize on several fast-break opportunities. Eagle Rock (3-1) Taft was outscored almost two to one in the second half.

Other all-tournament picks were Mia Sugi (Eagle Rock), Colleen Gregory (Eagle Rock) and Nyoki McKeith (Taft).

Cleveland 48, Lincoln 40--Vy Nguyen scored all eight of her points in the fourth quarter to help the Cavaliers (3-1) in the consolation championship of the Eagle Rock tournament.

Stacey Harris scored 18 points for Cleveland.

Moorpark 48, Cornerstone Christian 28--Tracey Milburn had 15 points to lead the Musketeers to a first-round victory in the Fillmore tournament.

Tina Milburn had 10 points for Moorpark (1-0), and Kelly Jaeger had 10 points and 15 rebounds.

Louisville 70, Bishop Diego 31--The Royals scored in double figures in each quarter while holding Bishop Diego to single numbers in each period in a Fillmore tournament game. Adriane Bilek had 22 points and 14 rebounds. Becky Witt added 16 points and Rosie Chingcuangco had 10 points and eight steals.

Fillmore 73, Santa Paula 32--Christie Rosenblad barely missed triple-double for host Fillmore (1-0), scoring 22 points with 10 steals and nine assists in a Fillmore tournament first-round game.

Julie Arundell added 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Flashes, and April Kozar threw in 14 points and had 16 rebounds.

Notre Dame 64, St. Genevieve 17--Stacey Phillips and Ashly Ritter each scored 14 points for the Knights (2-0) in a first-round game of the L.A. Baptist tournament.

Chaminade 64, L.A. Baptist 33--Shiela Shilati scored 30 points for the Eagles in the first round of the L.A. Baptist tournament.

Kara Kobzeff added eight points for Chaminade (1-1).

Village Christian 59, La Reina 23--Freshman forward Jennie Greslie had 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Crusaders (1-1) in the first round of the L.A. Baptist tournament. Lindy James added 13 points and six steals. La Reina is 0-1.

St. Bonaventure 80, Oxnard 45--Alisa Doran scored 20 points, but 28 turnovers hurt the host Seraphs (0-1) in a nonleague game.

Doran was four of eight from the three-point line for St. Bonaventure.

BOYS

Channel Islands 88, Malibu 68--Charles Merricks had 20 points as the Raiders won in the first round of the Nordhoff tournament.

O.J. Thomas had 16 points and eight assists for Channel Islands (1-0), which jumped out to a 23-3 lead.

Righetti 51, Crespi 43--The Celts were held without a field goal in the first quarter in a first-round game of the San Luis Obispo tournament.

Conor O’Neal had 12 points and Brian Casella added 12 for Crespi (0-1).

Hart 68, Moorpark 55--Junior forward Cory Johnson scored 23 points--22 in the second half--to lead Hart in a Simi Valley tournament consolation game. Johnson made 14 of 18 free throws, eight of 10 in the fourth quarter. The Indians (2-1) made 13 of 16 free throws in the final period. Brian Kirk added 14 points.

Moorpark is 1-2.

Palmdale 65, Littlerock 43--Steve Eernisse scored 19 points and Brice Bryant added 13 for the Falcons (2-1) in a consolation game in a Simi Valley tournament game played at Littlerock High.

Bronson Pitts scored 19 points for Littlerock (1-2).

El Camino Real 68, Alemany 66--Cameron Henderson scored 22 points for the Conquistadores (2-1) in a consolation game of the Simi Valley tournament at Camarillo High. Adrian Pantoja led the Indians (1-2) with 24 points.

Crescenta Valley 59, Burbank 56--Nathan Sinning scored 18 points to lead Crescenta Valley (2-0) to an overtime victory in the second round of the Burbank-Hoover tournament.

Juni Williams (17 points) and Matt Baker (14 points) paced the Bulldogs (1-1), who lost an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter.

Hoover 73, St. Francis 49--After trailing at halftime, 36-35, the Tornadoes (1-1) switched from a full-court press to a half-court trap to shut down St. Francis (0-2) in a Burbank-Hoover tournament consolation game.

Eric Jenkins had 14 points for Hoover, Arbi Baghdasarian added 13 and Mark Hull threw in 12. Hamlet Azarian had 10 points and 10 rebounds and Andy Russel added eight points and 10 rebounds for Hoover.

Anton Cunningham scored 22 points for the Knights.

Providence 86, Viewpoint 53--Brian Fay scored 29 points in the first round of the Providence tournament.

Juan Martinez added 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Pioneers (1-0).

Bell-Jeff 60, Arroyo Grande 53--Sophomore Elihu Cobb had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Guards (1-0), and freshman Kent Dennis added 14 points in a Morro Bay tournament first-round game.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Monroe 5, North Hollywood 4--Alexis Boyadjian scored the game-winning goal on a penalty shot with 10 minutes remaining in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Monroe High.

Boyadjian finished with two goals and Elmar Fenandez also added a pair of scores for the Vikings (2-0).

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Notre Dame 7, St. Bernard 0--Heather Moody and Megan Quinn each scored two goals for the Knights (1-1) in a nonleague match at St. Bernard.

Hart 11, Antelope Valley 0--Megan Manning scored three goals for the host Indians in a nonleague match.

Kim LePage and Countney Sherlock each scored two goals for Hart.
