Stankowski Leads PGA Qualifying
Paul Stankowski of Ventura shot rounds of 66 and 67 for an 11-under-par total of 133 over the first two rounds of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament in West Palm Beach, Fla., taking a one-shot lead Thursday over Clarence Rose.
Former Cal State Northridge and Kennedy High standout Bob Burns (69-66) is two shots back at 135.
Charlie Wi (71-70) of Westlake High and California is at 141 and David Berganio (67-66) of Alemany and Arizona is at 143.
Softball
Cornerstone Christian pitcher Karen Breshears has accepted a scholarship from the University of Toledo.
Breshears, who has pitched 12 no-hitters, was named Division VI All-CIF last season after Cornerstone advanced to the Division VI championship.
Breshears also plays third base and batted .595 with five home runs and 41 runs batted in.
Volleyball
Marianne Moll of Santa Clara High has been named the most valuable player in the Frontier League. Moll, a junior, was joined on the all-league team by junior teammates Nicee Madrigal and Christi Hanson.
Basketball
Eric Gray said his sore left shoulder is feeling better and the Cal State Northridge forward expects to play Saturday against Cal State Fullerton.
Gray missed Tuesday night’s game at Fresno State because of the injury.
