Alonzo Mourning said that his first game against his old team was just another game.

He left no doubt, however, that he had strong feelings about the circumstances that brought him from the Charlotte Hornets to the Miami Heat.

In the Heat’s 108-101 overtime victory over Charlotte on Friday night at Miami, Mourning had 21 points, 11 rebounds, four blocked shots and three assists to help the Heat to their fourth consecutive victory.

“Tell the people in Charlotte that I’m sorry things worked out as they did, but they don’t know the whole truth,” Mourning said.

Bimbo Coles led Miami with 26 points, while Keith Askins equaled a career high with 21, including 16 in the final 2:35 of regulation and in overtime.

Larry Johnson paced Charlotte with 32 points. Glen Rice, who went to the Hornets in the Mourning deal, scored 22.

New Jersey 131, Boston 123--Kenny Anderson scored 39 points, including a three-point basket at the start of overtime against the Celtics, to give the Nets the lead for good as they won their first road game in nine tries this season.

None of the players--Shawn Bradley, Greg Graham and Tim Perry--acquired in the trade for Derrick Coleman were available for the Nets.

Dallas 106, Atlanta 98--Jamal Mashburn scored 33 points, including 13 in the pivotal third quarter, to help the Mavericks end a seven-game losing streak with a victory at Atlanta, moving Coach Dick Motta only two games away from becoming the third NBA coach to reach 900 victories.

Seattle 110, Milwaukee 99--Shawn Kemp scored 27 points at Seattle as the SuperSonics defeated the Bucks for the eighth time in a row since 1992.

Toronto 105, Philadelphia 102--Willie Anderson scored 23 points at Toronto to help the Raptors hand the 76ers their ninth loss in a row. The Raptors, winning their fourth in a row at home, overcame a 32-point effort by 76er rookie Jerry Stackhouse.

Phoenix 111, Minnesota 105--Kevin Johnson scored nine of his 26 points in the fourth quarter as the Suns avoided a second-half collapse at Phoenix.

NBA Notes

It will be at least 10 days before Derrick Coleman, obtained in a trade Thursday with the New Jersey Nets, is in shape and ready to play, said John Lucas, Philadelphia 76er coach and general manager. Coleman hasn’t played this season because of an irregular heartbeat. . . . Union representatives for the NBA’s referees abruptly canceled a scheduled negotiating session with the league in New York, saying the two sides were too far apart to make it worthwhile. . . . The legal fight between the league and its players formally ended when the National Labor Relations Board let Sacramento King Mitch Richmond withdraw his unfair labor practice charge against the league. . . . Charles Oakley of the New York Knicks and Larry Johnson of the Charlotte Hornets were fined $7,500 and $2,500 respectively by the NBA for an altercation during a game this week at Charlotte.
