Compton police intensified their search Monday for additional suspects in the Saturday night killings of three young people as authorities prepared to file charges today against two men in custody.

Investigators said Cortez Elliott, 18, and Alfred Eugene Shallowhorn, 28, both of Compton, opened fire from a car on the three victims in retaliation for a gang-related killing in another section of Compton earlier in the day. Police Chief Hourie L. Taylor said he believes both suspects fired weapons.

Gunfire struck best friends Angela Southall, 16, and Ronice Alisha Williams, 17, and their roller-skating partner Keane Lavell Faulkner, 20, as the three stood in Southall’s driveway preparing for their regular trip to a Cerritos roller rink.

Taylor said none of the victims were gang members, but that the suspects allegedly believed they were firing on rival gang members. Investigators are pursuing at least one other suspect believed to be in the car at the time.
