Central Los Angeles : Mall Holds Its First Tree Lighting Event
Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza celebrated the 6-year-old mall’s first Christmas tree lighting ceremony Monday evening, as Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas flipped the switch to illuminate the 30-foot tree in Sears Court.
Ministers from First AME Church led prayers. Entertainment was provided by the First AME Youth Steppers, St. Paul Presbyterian Church Choir and Faith Acting Studios.
A “love tree” will also be displayed at the plaza, said Linda Gray, marketing director. Mall patrons can pick a name of a child from the tree and buy a gift for him or her.
