Two Bank Tellers Punched During Buena Park Robbery

Share

Two bank tellers were punched Thursday during a robbery at a Bank of America branch from which three robbers escaped.

The three men, one of whom brandished a small handgun, entered the bank in the 8000 block of Knott Avenue about noon and ordered the handful of customers to the side of the lobby, Sgt. Lloyd Schwengel said.

One unarmed robber then jumped over the bank counter and ordered a teller to give him cash. Possibly too startled to move, she hesitated, irritating the robber, who then punched her in the face, Schwengel said.

The attacker turned to another teller who also stalled at his command. The robber hit her too.

“They perhaps were slow to react and [the robber] was excited and so he punched them,” Schwengel said.

The same robber then grabbed cash from two teller drawers and he and the other two escaped in a car, witnesses told police.
