3.6 Earthquake Hits Ventura County

A magnitude-3.6 earthquake shook Ventura County on Friday night, but there were no reports of injury or damage.

The quake occurred at 8:19 p.m., 25 miles southeast of Ventura, said Doug Given, California Institute of Technology seismologist in Pasadena.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said it received 15 to 20 phone calls, mostly from people in Newbury Park, but also received scattered reports from Camarillo and Ventura, according to dispatcher Jan Daly.

“A couple of people said [they heard] a loud boom--there was noise with it,” she said.
