DIAMOND DOG DAYS: The tour teaming David Bowie and Morrissey hit a snag when Morrissey took ill midway through the British leg of the trek. Morrissey withdrew just 20 minutes before he was scheduled to go on stage in Aberdeen, Scotland, and subsequently canceled the remaining six United Kingdom dates. On his doctor’s advice, he is not expected to rejoin Bowie for the follow-up swing through Europe in the new year.

Morrissey has been released from an Aberdeen hospital and is now resting at home, though the nature and severity of his ailment remain a mystery.

Bowie will continue on as planned--something he would have had trouble doing on his recent U.S. tour if opening act Nine Inch Nails had dropped out. Here, NIN often seemed to be the primary attraction to concert-goers. In England so far, Bowie has been the main ticket-seller.
