COUNTYWIDE : Chabad to Sponsor Hanukkah Events
Chabad of the Conejo will observe Hanukkah with celebrations, festivals and displays designed to reach out to thousands of Jewish families.
On Dec. 17, Chabad and Fantasy Island will sponsor rides for children, holiday crafts, live music and other activities. Entrance, rides and attractions will be free. Fantasy Island is at 3130 Triunfo Canyon Road, between Agoura and Malibu.
On Dec. 18, Chabad will join with the Mountaingate Plaza Shopping Center in Simi Valley for an indoor Hanukkah festival beginning at 7 p.m. The festival will include gifts for children, a juggler show, live music, hot latkes and the kindling of a large menorah.
On Dec. 19, a grand Hanukkah festival is scheduled at The Oaks mall in Thousand Oaks, to include rabbis, community leaders, government officials and entertainers. There also will be a children’s show at the 7 p.m. event.
On Dec. 20, Chabad will hold its first Hanukkah celebration in Calabasas. The 7 p.m. event at the Parkway Calabasas Shopping Center will include a children’s show, gifts and hot latkes.
On Dec. 21, Chabad will join with the Agoura Hills City Mall for its annual celebration. The 7 p.m. event will feature an outdoor concert and the lighting of an 18-foot menorah.
Chabad also will be visiting local hospitals, the Ventura County Jail and Camarillo State Hospital. Individuals who know patients and inmates who would like a visit should contact Chabad at (818) 991-0991.
Two menorah mobiles will travel around the community offering menorahs, candles and gifts for children.
