Once again, Morten Andersen showed his old team that he’s alive and kicking well.

Andersen kicked four field goals, including an NFL-record three of more than 50 yards, to give Atlanta a 19-14 victory over New Orleans on Sunday.

“I may be 35 years old, but I’m as strong as ever,” said Andersen, who signed with the Falcons after the Saints let him go before the season started.

Andersen, whose overtime field goal beat New Orleans earlier this season, had field goals of 25, 51, 55 and 55 yards as the Falcons (8-6) ended a two-game losing streak and remained in the chase for a wild-card playoff berth.

The victory wasn’t certain until Jessie Tuggle picked off Jim Everett’s pass in the end zone and returned it 49 yards to the Atlanta 47 with one minute remaining.

The Saints (6-8) had won two in a row and five of six.

Everett appeared to have the Saints rolling toward victory after trailing, 16-0, early in the fourth quarter. He threw touchdown passes of one and five yards to Irv Smith, the first 42 seconds into the quarter and the second with 6:05 to play, cutting Atlanta’s lead to 16-14.

A 47-yard kickoff return by Eric Metcalf to the Saints’ 45 set up Andersen’s second 55-yard field goal, giving Atlanta a 19-14 lead with only 4:17 to play.

On the final drive, which started at the New Orleans 19, Everett moved the Saints to the Falcon five. Everett, who matched his career best with 31 completions, good for 287 yards, had two incompletions before Tuggle intercepted his pass.
