REAL ESTATE: The local real estate market...

REAL ESTATE: The local real estate market remained soft in November, dashing hopes that 1995 would be a turnaround year. . . . Single-family home sales and prices both fell. Most of last month’s sales were clustered at the low end of the market. Still doing well: condos (D1).

OWNER WILL CARRY: One way to help your home sell is to lend money to the buyer. So, more and more sellers are adding three little letters--OWC--to their ads to get a buyer who might not otherwise fully qualify for a loan. . . . Is this a good idea? See today’s Valley Real Estate column (D6A).

MANANITAS: Catholics of Mexican heritage will pack several parishes in the East Valley today to sing “mananitas” (good morning) to Our Lady of Guadalupe, the image of the Virgin Mary said to have appeared in 16th century Mexico to peasant Juan Diego. . . . How important is the celebration? “The single-biggest Masses we have all year,” said Father Patrick Murphy, senior pastor of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Sun Valley.

MORNING AND NIGHT: Mariachis, singing and Masses will begin at 5 a.m. in at least three parishes, including Our Lady of the Holy Rosary and St. Ferdinand in San Fernando. At Santa Rosa Catholic Church in San Fernando, Indian Mexican dancers start performing at 4 a.m. . . . At 6 p.m., a procession will go to four homes for reenactments of four apparitions to Juan Diego.

LIKE HOT CAKES: The Lancaster JetHawks are a hit before they have a hit. The minor-league baseball team, which will begin play in April, doesn’t have a completed stadium yet. But they’ve already sold close to 950 season tickets, ranging in price from $250 to $350 each. . . . And JetHawk caps sold out almost as soon as they were available.
