Coast Guard Searches for Surfer, 16
A 16-year-old Camarillo surfer was missing Tuesday night off Pitas Point north of Ventura after he became separated from friends while they were surfing the 6-foot waves off the county’s coast.
Jaren Zoler was last seen by friends at about 5 p.m., Ventura County Sheriff’s Senior Deputy Larry Logan said.
A 44-foot U.S. Coast Guard boat searched waters off Faria State Beach on Tuesday night, according to Coast Guard Petty Officer Edward Jackson.
Because of the stormy weather, the Coast Guard helicopter was grounded, Jackson said.
Deputies searched nearby beaches Tuesday night for Zoler, Logan said.
