Trevor Denman, who has been Hollywood Park’s race caller for the last five years, will not return when the track begins its spring-summer meet in April, it was announced Wednesday.

Denman, who also calls the races at Southern California’s other thoroughbred tracks, said he is going to pursue other opportunities that would conflict with the Hollywood Park dates.

The track said Denman may continue to be its race caller during the fall season. Hollywood Park has not named a replacement for Denman at the spring-summer meet.

Denman has been the track announcer at Santa Anita and Del Mar since 1984 and has called the races at Fairplex Park since 1987.

For the last seven years, he has been part of the broadcast team covering the Breeders’ Cup races for NBC television.

With a favorite winning only one of the races, only two perfect tickets were sold Wednesday on the pick six at Hollywood Park. Each ticket was worth $764,489.90, a record for the track.

The previous record was $761,627.40, set at the fall meet last year.

Both of Wednesday’s tickets were sold at the Del Mar satellite facility.

Wednesday’s pick-six pool totaled $2.3 million, which included a carryover of more than $484,000 from last Saturday and Sunday, when no one picked all six winners.
