This will be Keyshawn Johnson’s second Rose Bowl game.

Eleven years ago, at 12, when he was the USC ball boy/punt shagger/pad caddy, he rode to Pasadena early in the morning for the 1985 USC-Ohio State game, won by USC, 20-17.

“I remember having to get up at 6:30, going to school and helping the equipment guys load up vans with stuff,” he said.

“I remember hanging up the uniforms in the lockers and during the game making sure we got field goal and conversion balls back.

“Then I remember putting all the gear back in the vans and it being dark when we left, and taking it all back to SC.”

Jeremy Hogue, the starting center who was to start at guard in Monday’s game, hasn’t practiced since last week. He got flu while at home in Oklahoma for Christmas and sat out practices Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hogue was moved to guard after Phalen Pounds was ruled academically ineligible for the Rose Bowl. Robert Loya will start at center.

Fullback Rodney Sermons has been sidelined because of a hamstring pull and LaVale Woods has worked all week at first fullback.
