Early Reports on McSween From Baltimore Are Positive
Mighty Duck defenseman Don McSween went to the minor leagues knowing he might have to face the end of his career a year after his wrist was slashed by a skate blade.
But McSween got a good report Friday night from Baltimore Coach Walt Kyle after playing his first game since suffering severe nerve damage in his right hand last Jan. 21.
“If he took a year off, I didn’t see it,” Kyle told The Baltimore Sun. “Another six or eight games here and I think he’ll be back where he was.”
McSween played a regular defensive shift, assisted on Dwayne Norris’ game-winning goal in Baltimore’s 2-1 victory over Syracuse.
Anaheim General Manager Jack Ferreira said before McSween’s first game that “one game is not going to determine his career,” and plans to go to Baltimore to see him play Sunday.
