Waiting to Pay Toll
The new tollway along the [Riverside] Freeway will have no tollbooths (“Private Tollway Makes Its Debut Today in O.C.,” Dec. 27) but will require the use of a transponder, which costs $30. This makes it a really private tollway. I was informed that it would take about five days to get a transponder, not good news for someone arriving on the scene with a desire to utilize (and pay for) the special lanes. Five days? I’ve heard of long waits at toll booths, but this is ridiculous!
