Big Night for Sharks’ Terreri in 2-1 Victory Over Devils

Former Devil goaltender Chris Terreri got the best of his old teammates Thursday night at East Rutherford, N.J., making 31 saves to lead San Jose to a 2-1 victory over New Jersey, ending the Sharks’ seven-game losing streak.

Shean Donovan got the winner early in the third period as the Sharks ended the Devils’ three-game winning streak, but the night belonged to Terreri in his first game against New Jersey since being traded on Nov. 15.

Washington 6, Ottawa 1--Peter Bondra had three goals and two assists and Michal Pivonka scored a career-high six points at Landover, Md., as the Capitals handed the Senators their sixth loss in a row.

New York Islanders 4, Toronto 3--Tommy Soderstrom stopped 43 shots and Zigmund Palffy scored the winner late in the second period as the Islanders hung on to beat the Maple Leafs at Uniondale, N.Y.

St. Louis 4, Philadelphia 4--Stephane Matteau’s second goal of the game came with 24.9 seconds remaining in the third period and pulled the Blues into a tie at Philadelphia.
