PITTSBURGH STEELERS vs. DALLAS COWBOYS
SUPER BOWL X
Pittsburgh 21, Dallas 17--Pittsburgh quarterback Terry Bradshaw’s 64-yard pass to Lynn Swann is the most memorable play and the game-winner in Miami’s Orange Bowl, but often forgotten is that Pittsburgh almost gave the game away. Instead of punting on fourth and nine at the Dallas 41, Steeler coach Chuck Knoll ran Rocky Bleier for two yards. The Cowboys and Staubach took over with 1:22 remaining and moved the ball to the Pittsburgh 33. But Staubach’s pass on the final play was intercepted by Glen Edwards in the end zone.
SUPER BOWL XIII
Pittsburgh 35, Dallas 31--The Cowboys were looking for back-to-back titles at the Orange Bowlin Miami, but were denied because of the accurate arm of game most valuable player Terry Bradshaw and their own blunders. Bradshaw threw for four touchdowns and a 318 yards, but Dallas also gave up a 37-yard fumble return touchdown to linebacker Mike Hegman and fumbled a kickoff with 7:10 remaining that led to a 18-yard touchdown reception by Lynn Swann. Dallas scored twice in the last three minutes, but could never overcome Bradshaw or the mistakes.
