Flyers Are Fit to Be Tied Once Again

Rod Brind’Amour scored late in the third period to give the Philadelphia Flyers their sixth tie in their last 11 games, 1-1, with the Florida Panthers on Monday night at Philadelphia.

Brind’Amour got the Flyers’ only goal with 2:39 left.

Eric Desjardins carried the puck into the Florida zone along the left wing and banked a pass off the boards to Eric Lindros, who shot at the net from right inside the blue line.

Jody Hull scored Florida’s goal.

Tampa Bay 4, Montreal 1--The Lightning scored three third-period goals to remain undefeated against the Canadiens at Montreal.

Brian Bradley, Mikael Andersson and Michel Petit, with his second of the game, scored in the final period for Tampa Bay.

Defenseman Robert Dirk lasted only 12:17 into his first game with the Canadiens since he was acquired Sunday from the Mighty Ducks.

Colorado 4, New York Islanders 3--Claude Lemieux and Peter Forsberg each had a goal and an assist as the Avalanche ended a four-game home winless streak.

Jon Klemm and Adam Deadmarsh scored first-period goals for the Avalanche, who got 31 saves from Patrick Roy.

Chicago 7, Ottawa 3--The Blackhawks handed the Senators their ninth consecutive loss.

Chicago won despite registering only eight shots in each period at Ottawa, as Jeremy Roenick and Joe Murphy both scored twice.

Pittsburgh 7, Boston 6--Mario Lemieux scored a shorthanded goal at 1:54 of overtime as the Penguins overcame a two-goal deficit in the last minute of regulation to defeat the Bruins at Pittsburgh.

Dallas 6, Vancouver 4--Joe Nieuwendyk had a goal and an assist and Kevin Hatcher had three assists as the Stars scored five consecutive goals at Vancouver to end their seven-game winless streak.
