An Oxnard woman wrecked her car and was seriously injured Thursday after leading sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase from Oxnard to Thousand Oaks, authorities said.

Sylvia Ayala, 33, was listed in serious condition Thursday at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, hospital officials said. She suffered a broken leg and jaw, and internal injuries when her Honda Accord smashed into a tree on Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks.

The pursuit began at about 12:30 a.m. when Ayala allegedly refused to stop for a minor traffic violation near the intersection of Rose Avenue and Wooley Road in Oxnard, authorities said.

Ayala led deputies on a chase that reached speeds of more than 90 mph and swept through Camarillo and into the Santa Rosa Valley, deputies said.

Shortly after entering Thousand Oaks, Ayala’s car left the road and struck a tree. She had to be removed from the car by emergency personnel, deputies said. Ayala was traveling alone, authorities said.

Ayala allegedly told deputies that her license was suspended and she didn’t want to be arrested on her daughter’s birthday, authorities said. Ayala has not been charged but an investigation is continuing, they said.
