A 20-year-old woman died in the parking lot of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Division station and a 16-year-old boy visiting from out of state was left seriously injured after their car was shot at by two gunmen Friday morning, police said.

The driver of the car, a man in his late 20s who was less seriously wounded, tried to escape from the shooters, who opened fire on him and his two passengers in the 2900 block of Rimpau Boulevard.

The driver headed several blocks to the police station, stopped the car and asked for help, police said. The names of the victims were not released pending notification of family.
