The Mission Inn in Riverside has created a package for travelers over age 55. It costs $119 for two, and includes a room for one night and 40 “Mission Inn” dollars redeemable at the inn’s restaurants, cocktail lounge or gift shop. The dollars also are valid for room service charges. The inn has a heated pool and spa. This package is valid through 1996 on a space-available basis. Las Vegas has two all-suite resort hotels that offer reduced rates for members of their Senior Club. Club membership is free. Those interested must fill out an application and send it to either or both hotels, which qualifies them for the special senior rates.

Sunrise Suites is on Boulder Highway between Las Vegas and Hoover Dam. All suites are one bedroom with king or queen bed, plus kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator. The resort has barbecue facilities, swimming pool, spa and on-site self-service laundry. Guests are provided with free airport pickup and return, plus free local phone calls and a 20% discount from the menu in the resort’s deli restaurant. The rate is $32 per night on a space-available basis.

Melrose Suites is two blocks west of The Strip and offers studio suites with sofa beds that convert to queen sleepers. Rates are $39 per night, space available. The Queen Mary in Long Beach has a discount program for guests over 55. Weekday rates for guest rooms in the former ocean liner have been reduced 50% and range from $67.50 to $80. Weekend rates range from $72 to $144. Senior discounts also are given for the Shipwalk and Behind the Scenes ship tours. The Ramada Plaza Hotel in Cypress is convenient for visitors heading to Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, the Anaheim Convention Center and many other attractions in the Anaheim area.
