Latino Laughs: Actor Cheech Marin will host what is being billed as the first-ever Latino comedy festival in San Antonio and the June 6-9 event will be taped for a 13-episode series for cable’s Showtime. The “Latino Laugh Festival,” set at venues along San Antonio’s famous Riverwalk, will feature stand-up comedians, films, novelty acts, street performers, monologues and sketches from Latino entertainers from around the world; the series is expected to air on Showtime this summer. Co-executive producer Jeff Valdez (“Comedy Compadres”) said the festival and series aim to create a “working ‘farm team’ of sorts to help groom new and existing talent for future TV and film projects.”

They Don’t ‘Love Him, Man’: An Alabama Christian school has canceled Charlton Heston’s scheduled March 22 appearance at the school’s annual fund-raiser because of the actor’s role in a Bud Light commercial. Said David Vester, president of Mars Hill Bible School in Florence, Ala.: “Part of our purpose for being is to teach against the evils of drinking.”
