City Council Urges Support for Measure S
Saying that a commercial airport at the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station would create safety and environmental hazards, the City Council this week came out in support of Measure S.
The resolution approved by the council states that an airport would bring few benefits and would cause traffic congestion, air pollution and noise as well as jeopardize residents’ safety.
Measure S, which will be on the March 26 ballot, would repeal last year’s Measure A, the proposal to convert the military facility, slated for closure, into a commercial airport.
