LOCAL HEROES: The American Red Cross on Friday honored two Valley residents, Louise Moore of Granada Hills and Patricia Snyder of Tarzana. . . . Moore, 78, has helped out at 91 natural disasters since aiding relief efforts for Hurricane Camille in 1969. She assisted victims of the ’71 Sylmar quake and the ’94 Northridge quake. “In ‘71, it felt like I was on a trampoline. But [Northridge] was a really jerky thing that threw me all around.”

SUPER HEROES: Comic strip characters are more popular than ever, with movies, TV shows and toys chronicling the adventures of Superman, Spiderman and others. But business hasn’t been that great for the comic book industry, where these heroes got their start (D1). . . . “We’re hanging in there,” said Mike Garanchon, co-manager of 18-year-old Continental Comics in Northridge. “We’re hoping to ride out the effects of what’s going on.”

ROYAL WATCHERS: Valley Brits on Friday tried to explain why the English care so much about the divorce of the Prince and Princess of Wales (B4). . . . “You all have Disneyland,” explained Jaguar salesman Geoffrey Lester of Studio City. “We have the royals.”
