Fullerton Defeats Rancho Santiago, 6-4

Fullerton took advantage of some Rancho Santiago mistakes to beat the Dons, 6-4, in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Saturday at Fullerton.

Fullerton trailed, 3-2, going into the eighth, but scored four times.

With two outs, Poncho Ruiz scored the tying run on a passed ball and Chris Young scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.

Two more runs scored when Brian Dewispelaere’s hard grounder with the bases loaded went between the legs of first baseman Kevin Duck.

Rancho Santiago’s Tony Zuniga, who had three hits, started the ninth with double and and scored on a single by Erik Sobek as the Dons cut it to 6-4. Starter Scott Parsonage (4-0) then got two ground balls, the second a double play to end the game.

Fullerton is 14-2, 4-0 and in first place. Rancho Santiago is 13-3, 2-1.
