Native American Culture: Artists, writers, curators, scholars and activists will explore contemporary Native American cultural issues during a series of programs today through Sunday organized by the Getty Center for the History of Art and the Humanities. The series, free and open to the public, starts tonight at 7:30 at the Downtown Central Library with a panel discussion on “Indigenous Thought and Intellectual Work.” Other events include a panel on native identities in art and culture, Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the library; a focus on museums on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Japanese American National Museum; a discussion of tribal objects at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Japanese American museum; and a presentation by performance artist James Luna at the Central Library Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
