Bigger Cultural Panel Gets 3 New Members
Responding to a flood of applicants for the Cultural & Beautification Committee, the City Council voted Tuesday night to expand the advisory panel to 11 members from 10.
The council also appointed three new members to four-year terms on the committee. They are Carolann Bass, Noella Lew and Carolyn Redmond.
Bass is a design specialist with an aerospace company, Lew is a sales representative and Redmond is a teacher.
Council members said that so many qualified persons had applied for the vacancies that a committee expansion was in order.
“Another reason for expanding the committee membership is that having an even number isn’t ideal” in case of a tie vote, Councilman Kenneth Blake said.
The council also reappointed Hal Jensen to another four-year term on the city’s Development Committee.
