Parking Plan OKd for Events at Park

Share

Because upcoming special events and holiday activities in Mile Square Regional Park may cause neighborhood parking problems, the City Council this week approved a preferential parking plan for residents.

Under the plan, park-goers will not be allowed to park in neighborhoods and must park inside Mile Square.

Only residents and their guests will be able to park on streets within neighborhoods.

Over the last several years, the city has imposed the parking plan on major holidays to lessen effects on neighborhoods and has asked that the hobby area of the park be opened for overflow parking.

Holidays and events covered by the plan are:

* April 7, Easter

* May 12, Mother’s Day

* May 18, Scout O’Rama

* May 27, Memorial Day

* Sept. 2, Labor Day

Residents and merchants can get parking permits from the Police Department.

The city will post signs and place barricades, and fliers explaining the program will be distributed to residents.
