Chris Mills scored a career-high 30 points and rookie Bob Sura had a career-high 10 assists, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers past the injury-depleted Boston Celtics 98-73 Thursday.

Mills made 11 of 14 shots and all six of his free throws. He scored Cleveland’s final eight points of the second quarter and first two of the second half.

Cleveland continued its quest for a possible homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs. The Cavaliers pulled within one game of the New York Knicks, who currently have the fourth-best overall record in the Eastern Conference.

Boston was led by David Wesley with 16 points and Eric Montross scored 11. The Celtics were without injured Dino Radja, Dee Brown and Pervis Ellison.

The Celtics were held to their fourth-lowest point total since the NBA went to the 24-second clock in the 1954-55 season, matching its output in a 91-73 loss at Cleveland on Feb. 6.
