Unheeded Court Order Nets 2 Years
A 39-year-old Van Nuys man who had previously assaulted his girlfriend’s mother was sentenced to two years in jail for violating a court order to stay away from both women, authorities said Friday.
David Skeen was sentenced Thursday by Van Nuys Municipal Judge Lloyd Nash after a jury found him guilty of violating a domestic violence restraining order as well as two violations of court stay-away orders, Deputy City Atty. Teddy Eden said.
Eden said Skeen violated the court orders in December when he appeared at the Van Nuys home of his 34-year-old girlfriend and her 60-year-old mother.
The order was issued in July after Skeen was convicted of assaulting the mother with a deadly weapon, Eden said. Felony assault with a deadly weapon charges for a more recent alleged attack on the women are still pending, he added.
