It’s Wrong to Compare Busch and Strawberry
After reading the article about Mike Busch (March 9) it is apparent that Brett Butler still hasn’t figured out why he was booed at games last season. He went way beyond his duties as union rep to the point of being vindictive in his call for the team to ostracize not only Busch but his wife and family, if they dared to show up.
Butler’s later attempts to minimize [Darryl] Strawberry’s negative impact on the team compared to that of Busch were ludicrous . . . saying Strawberry’s actions were personal and did not affect the team. How can the behavior of a substance-abusing, tax-cheating malingerer be less offensive than that of a man who makes a decision and stands up for his choice?
