Worker Accused of Computer Parts Theft

An Oxnard man accused of stealing $2,000 worth of computer parts from his Moorpark employer has been arrested on suspicion of grand theft, authorities said.

Daniel Zavala Juarez, 29, a technician for Computer Parts Unlimited on Maureen Lane, allegedly stole the parts--ranging from silicon chips to computer speakers--over the past four months by concealing them in his clothes, said Det. Allen Devers of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

Company officials first noticed that some parts were missing in December. They tightened security and this month caught Juarez on film pocketing parts, Devers said.

They then notified Moorpark police that they suspected Juarez of stealing.

He was arrested Wednesday as he left work. Although sheriff’s deputies found no parts on him, Devers said they had enough evidence to make an arrest.

After his arrest, Juarez returned the stolen parts to his employer, Devers said.
